Gemu Goddess Mountain
The Mosuo people's sacred mountain above Lugu Lake — ride the cable car up for a full-lake panorama and a summit cave.
The Mosuo people's sacred mountain on the shore of Lugu Lake, believed to be the goddess Gemu herself. An open-air cableway rises from near Nisai village to just below the summit, opening the best panorama of the whole lake anywhere on the ring road; there is also a cave to explore near the top.

- Time to allow
- About two hours including the cableway both ways; it slots into a lake loop.
- Altitude
- 3770 m
Know before you go
The cableway is open to the air, so it feels cold in wind or poor weather and can stop running. Price information conflicts between sources, so we do not quote a fixed figure.
